Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed Ensure they are halal.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Consider low-sodium varieties for a healthier option.
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey Agave syrup can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Drain and rinse one can of chickpeas thoroughly. Pat them dry using a paper towel or a clean kitchen cloth. Make sure they are as dry as possible for maximum crispiness.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup (or honey), garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the dried chickpeas and toss them well to coat evenly with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the chickpeas out in a single layer.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through to ensure they crisp up evenly.
  6. Once they’re golden brown and crispy, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm!

Notes

If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, place them in the oven for 5-10 minutes at 350°F (175°C) to maintain their crunch.
