Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Frosting
  1. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  2. Frost with your favorite buttercream or enjoy as is.
