Ingredients
  

For the Burger Patties
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa Make sure it's cooked according to package instructions.
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained Rinsing helps remove excess sodium.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the quinoa according to package instructions and allow it to cool slightly.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the rinsed and drained black beans using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
  3. Add the cooked quinoa, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the beans. Mix everything together until well combined.
Cooking
  1. Shape the mixture into burger patties, aiming for about 1–2 inches thick. You should get around 4-6 burgers.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet (you may need to cook in batches).
  3. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crisp around the edges.
Serving
  1. Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Serve these delicious burgers on a bun with your favorite toppings and sauces.

Notes

These burgers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet or oven until heated through.
