Preparation
- Cook the quinoa according to package instructions and allow it to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, mash the rinsed and drained black beans using a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
- Add the cooked quinoa, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the beans. Mix everything together until well combined.
Cooking
- Shape the mixture into burger patties, aiming for about 1–2 inches thick. You should get around 4-6 burgers.
- Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet (you may need to cook in batches).
- Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crisp around the edges.
Serving
- Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Serve these delicious burgers on a bun with your favorite toppings and sauces.
Notes
These burgers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet or oven until heated through.
