Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper until evenly mixed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable broth, soy sauce, and olive oil.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until combined, then knead the mixture with your hands for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes a spongy dough.
- Form the dough into a log shape or individual patties, depending on your preference.
Cooking
- In a pot, add water to bring it to a boil and then lower the heat. Place the Vegan Meat in the pot, cover it, and steam for around 30 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool for a bit before slicing. Sear in a hot pan with a little oil to add a crispy exterior.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge and reheat in a skillet over medium heat.
