Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten Main ingredient providing chewy texture.
  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast Adds a cheesy flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder For extra flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder For extra flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Adds smokiness.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Adjust to taste.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup vegetable broth For moisture and flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce For seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Enhances flavor and texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper until evenly mixed.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable broth, soy sauce, and olive oil.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until combined, then knead the mixture with your hands for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes a spongy dough.
  4. Form the dough into a log shape or individual patties, depending on your preference.
Cooking
  1. In a pot, add water to bring it to a boil and then lower the heat. Place the Vegan Meat in the pot, cover it, and steam for around 30 minutes.
  2. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool for a bit before slicing. Sear in a hot pan with a little oil to add a crispy exterior.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge and reheat in a skillet over medium heat.
