  • 1 cup almond flour Finely ground almond flour recommended.
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites Use room temperature.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring Optional.
  • Sprinkles For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a bowl, sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites until frothy, then gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Gently fold the almond flour and powdered sugar mixture into the egg whites.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and food coloring, folding until just combined.
  6. Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe small rounds on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle with joy by adding sprinkles on top of the piped rounds, then let them sit to develop a skin.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 285°F (140°C) and bake the macarons for 15-20 minutes, until firm to the touch.
  2. Let them cool completely before gently removing from the parchment paper and fill with your desired filling or vanilla buttercream.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately or allow to rest in the refrigerator for enhanced flavor.

Notes

These macarons can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator for several hours before enjoying.
