Ingredients
  

Chicken and Coating
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch for coating
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying
Orange Sauce
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) for added heat
Garnishes
  • 1 piece green onion, sliced for garnish
  • to taste sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Coat the chicken pieces with cornstarch in a bowl, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.
Frying Chicken
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
Making the Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, lower the heat and add the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Cook the sauce until slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
Combine and Serve
  1. Add the fried chicken back into the skillet, tossing well to coat in the sauce.
  2. Plate the Ultimate Orange Chicken and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For a Halal-friendly option, substitute chicken with tofu. Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to avoid soggy chicken.
