  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend) Choose your favorite cheese
For the sandwich
  • 4 slices bread (your choice: sourdough, white, or whole grain)
  • 2 tablespoons butter For grilling the bread
Optional toppings
  • sautéed peppers, fresh herbs, or sliced avocados Customize as desired

Method

Cook the Beef
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the diced onions and cook until they’re translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Then, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
Season the Mixture
  1. Stir in Worcestershire sauce (if using), season generously with salt and pepper, and ensure everything is well combined.
  2. Remove from heat.
Assemble the Melt
  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side, layer some of the beef mixture, then sprinkle a generous amount of cheese on top.
  3. If you’re opting for toppings like sautéed peppers, this is the time to add them in!
Cook the Melt
  1. In a clean skillet, place your sandwich butter-side down.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  3. Carefully flip the sandwich and press down slightly to ensure even melting.
  4. Cook until both sides are golden, and the cheese is surprisingly gooey, about 3-5 minutes per side.
Serve
  1. Once done, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them sit for a minute before slicing them in half.
  2. Enjoy your warm, cheesy creation!
