Ingredients
Method
Cook the Beef
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the diced onions and cook until they’re translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Then, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
Season the Mixture
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce (if using), season generously with salt and pepper, and ensure everything is well combined.
- Remove from heat.
Assemble the Melt
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side, layer some of the beef mixture, then sprinkle a generous amount of cheese on top.
- If you’re opting for toppings like sautéed peppers, this is the time to add them in!
Cook the Melt
- In a clean skillet, place your sandwich butter-side down.
- Cook over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and press down slightly to ensure even melting.
- Cook until both sides are golden, and the cheese is surprisingly gooey, about 3-5 minutes per side.
Serve
- Once done, remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them sit for a minute before slicing them in half.
- Enjoy your warm, cheesy creation!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. To reheat, place in a skillet over low heat or pop in the toaster oven for a crispy finish.
