Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for that lovely warmth.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss well to coat the apples evenly.
Making the Topping
- In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the softened butter using a fork or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Assembling and Baking
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the crumble topping generously over the apples.
- Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
Serving
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream!
Notes
To ensure your topping remains crispy, bake the crumble uncovered. For a lighter version, swap half the butter for Greek yogurt or use coconut oil instead.
