Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Use large eggs for best results
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M's Any color, to add a festive touch
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Chose your favorite nuts like walnuts or pecans

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour with baking soda and gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, M&M's, and chopped nuts.
Baking
  1. Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges begin to brown.
  3. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

To store, keep cookies in an airtight container. You can also customize the recipe by adding different types of chocolate or nuts.
