Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate for best flavor.
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Plus a little extra for greasing the pan.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Add for extra crunch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by greasing an 8-inch square baking dish with a little butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir regularly until everything is melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once melted, remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract. If you’re using nuts, fold them in now.
  4. Transfer the fudgy mixture into the prepared baking dish and use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  5. Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature for several hours or refrigerate for a quicker set, usually about 2 hours.
  6. Once completely set, cut into squares and enjoy your homemade Toll House Famous Fudge!

Notes

Store your fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate for about two weeks. For long-term storage, freeze portions wrapped in plastic wrap and then foil for up to 3 months. Reheat individual squares in the microwave for 10-15 seconds if desired.
