Ingredients

Churro Dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
Churro Coating and Assembly
  • 1/4 cup Toffifay candies (chopped if desired)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for tossing
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Chocolate sauce for drizzling
  • Whipped cream for topping

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring it to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, add the flour and stir quickly until a ball forms. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  2. Once the dough is cool, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. The mixture should be smooth and glossy when done.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the churro dough. Pipe 4-inch strips directly into the hot oil.
  2. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Remove churros from the oil and immediately toss them in a cinnamon-sugar mixture made by combining the powdered sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Assembly
  1. Place the churros upright in serving bowls, drizzle with chocolate sauce, and top with whipped cream. For an added surprise, tuck a few Toffifay candies into the center of the bowls!

Notes

For best results, use hot oil when frying churros to ensure they are crispy. Store leftover churros in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days, and reheat in the oven for optimal texture.
