  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (or halal-friendly substitute)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
For the Filling
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (or halal-friendly substitute)
For the Three Milks Sauce
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or halal-friendly substitute)

Method

Preparation of Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the milk and egg until a dough forms.
Kneading and Shaping
  1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 4-5 minutes until smooth.
  2. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Filling and Rolling
  1. Spread the softened butter over the dough.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  3. Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log shape.
  4. Slice the log into 12 even pieces.
Baking the Rolls
  1. Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, making sure they are snug against each other.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Preparing the Three Milks Sauce
  1. While the rolls are baking, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream in a bowl.
Soaking and Serving
  1. Once the rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and pour the three milks sauce evenly over the top.
  2. Let them absorb the sauce for at least 15-20 minutes before serving.
  3. Enjoy your warm Three Milks Cinnamon Rolls with a cup of tea or coffee, and share them with family and friends!
