Ingredients

  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sour cream Halal-friendly
  • 1/4 cup butter Halal-friendly
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

Cooking the Rice
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Add the 1 cup of long grain rice along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Stir once, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes until all the water is absorbed.
Preparing the Cream Mixture
  1. While the rice is cooking, melt 1/4 cup of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the 1 cup of sour cream and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, along with any additional herbs if desired.
Combining
  1. Once the rice is fully cooked, fluff it with a fork.
  2. Pour the creamy mixture over the rice, stirring gently to combine.
Garnishing
  1. Serve hot and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

Substitutions: Greek yogurt can be used instead of sour cream for a slightly tangy flavor. Make sure to cover the rice while cooking to retain steam. Avoid overcooking the rice to ensure a perfect texture.
