Ingredients
Method
Preparation of Dough
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, warm the milk slightly (to about 110°F) and mix it with the melted butter.
- Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, then add eggs.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic—about 5-7 minutes.
First Rise
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and set it in a warm area to rise until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
Rolling Out Dough
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 15 x 20 inches.
Adding Filling
- Spread the softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon together, then sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough.
Forming Rolls
- Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Slice this log into 12 equal pieces and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
Second Rise
- Cover the dish with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise for about 30 minutes, until puffed.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Making Frosting
- While the rolls cool, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Glazing
- Once cooled slightly, drizzle the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls.
Serving
- Serve warm and enjoy the compliments!
Notes
Use fresh yeast for best results. Don’t over-knead the dough for fluffy rolls. You can customize the filling with nuts or raisins. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
