Ingredients

Pastry Ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Optional Toppings
  • Fresh fruit, icing, or powdered sugar for topping Add for additional flavor and decoration.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and the beaten egg yolk. Mix until creamy and smooth.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet. Cut it into squares or triangles.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry piece. Fold the pastry edges over the filling, pinching them to seal.
Baking
  1. Arrange the danishes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Allow the danishes to cool slightly before serving. Top with fresh fruit or a drizzle of icing if desired.

Notes

Make sure the puff pastry is extra cold for the best flaky layers. You can substitute cream cheese with Greek yogurt mixed with cream cheese for a lighter option.
