  • 6 cups bread, cubed (stale bread works best)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk Feel free to use almond milk or oat milk for alternatives.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional) Adds sweetness and chewiness.
  • Butter for greasing the pan

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cube up your bread and place it in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard over the cubed bread and gently fold it in. Allow it to soak for about 10 minutes.
  5. If using raisins, fold them into the mixture now.
  6. Grease your baking dish with butter.
  7. Pour the bread mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Bake for about 45–50 minutes or until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread pudding to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This dish is best enjoyed warm, but it can also be delicious at room temperature. For topping options, consider a drizzle of honey, halal vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
