Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 can chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 tablespoons tahini Can substitute with nut butter if needed.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Plus extra for drizzling.
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • to taste salt
  • as needed water Water Add in small increments to achieve desired consistency.
  • to taste paprika for garnish Optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and ensure that your chickpeas are rinsed and drained.
Blending
  1. In a blender or food processor, add the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, minced garlic, and lemon juice.
  2. Sprinkle in some salt for taste.
  3. Blend the mixture until smooth. If your hummus is too thick, add a bit of water in small increments until you achieve your desired consistency.
  4. Give your hummus a taste. Feel free to add more garlic, lemon juice, or salt according to your preference. Blend again if you make adjustments.
Serving
  1. Transfer the hummus to a bowl. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil and sprinkle paprika on top if desired.

Notes

For the best flavor, let your hummus sit for a little while before serving. Make sure not to over-blend; blend until smooth but not gritty. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
