Ingredients
  

For the Sandwiches
  • 8 slices Texas toast Thick slices of bread that hold up well for this recipe.
  • 1 pound roast beef, sliced thin Can substitute with halal beef or turkey.
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese Gooey cheese that melts well.
For the Au Jus
  • 2 cups beef broth Used for dipping.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For toasting the bread.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning the broth.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat the beef broth in a saucepan over low heat. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to enhance the flavor and keep warm.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add Texas toast slices and toast until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
Assembly
  1. Place slices of roast beef on four pieces of toasted bread and top each with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  2. Cover with the remaining four slices of toast and carefully flip each sandwich in the skillet to melt the cheese, about 2-3 minutes.
Serving
  1. Slice sandwiches into halves or quarters and serve hot with warm beef broth on the side for dipping.

Notes

Substitutions include halal roast beef or turkey. Keep cheese from burning while melting, and dip sandwiches carefully to maintain crunch. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days and reheat in a skillet or oven.
