Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place your pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and gently press it into the edges. Trim any excess dough, and poke a few holes in the bottom with a fork.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter carefully.
Filling
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Whisk in the eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  2. Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the filling mixture into your prepared pie crust.
  2. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing.
Serving
  1. Top with whipped cream or ice cream, and serve.
