Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (or a Halal alternative like ground chicken or turkey) You can use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter dish.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (or your choice of cream soup) Feel free to use a homemade version if preferred.
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (your preferred type, like cheddar) Add an extra layer of flavor.
  • 1 bag frozen tater tots 32 ounces
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). A hot oven is important for that perfectly crispy tater top!
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, seasoning with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and mixed vegetables until well combined. Remove from heat.
Assembly
  1. In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly.
  2. Top with shredded cheese if you want an extra layer of flavor.
  3. Evenly distribute the frozen tater tots over the top of the casserole.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
