Ingredients

Brownie Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (plain, non-fat or low-fat)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or a sugar substitute (adjust to taste)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, honey (or sweetener), and eggs until fully combined.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract until well integrated.
  4. In another bowl, sift together cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly into the corners.
Baking
  1. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Use a toothpick to test for doneness; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
Cooling and Slicing
  1. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Top these brownies with a dollop of Greek yogurt or fresh berries for a delightful contrast. You can also use almond or coconut flour for gluten-free brownies.
