  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  5. Gently fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, ensure ingredients are at room temperature. Substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a nutty twist. Consider adding a teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
