Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until creamy and light in texture, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla and almond extracts for added flavor.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until there are no visible streaks of flour.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Once baked, allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For Halal-friendly substitutions, consider using a plant-based butter. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freezer-refrigerated for up to three months. To reheat, warm in the microwave or oven.
