Ingredients

For the meat mixture
  • 500 g ground beef (Halal)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (Halal option available) or use soy sauce
For the sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth (Halal)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, diced onion, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until all ingredients are well combined but avoid overmixing.
  2. Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs or patties (around 1-2 inches in size).
  3. Optional: Heat a skillet on medium-high and brown the meatballs slightly on all sides for extra flavor (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Place the browned meatballs into the crock pot.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the beef broth, sour cream, and flour until smooth. Pour this mixture over the meatballs in the crock pot.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours or high for about 3 hours until the meat is cooked through and tender.
Serving
  1. Once finished, stir gently to coat the meatballs in sauce and serve warm. Garnish with fresh herbs for an added pop of flavor.

Notes

You can swap ground beef with other ground meat while ensuring it's Halal. Ensure meatballs are the same size for even cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
