Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated apples, applesauce, almond butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well until all the ingredients are incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring gently until well combined. If you’re using nuts, fold them in last.
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Pour the batter into the prepared dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the brownies to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for a fresh taste.
