Ingredients

Wet ingredients
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Dry ingredients
  • 1 cup almond flour Can substitute with hazelnut or coconut flour.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, apple butter, and vanilla extract and stir until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring continuously until combined into a smooth batter.
  2. Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or grease it lightly, then pour the brownie batter into the dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For a fudgier brownie, reduce the baking time slightly. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
