Ingredients

Puff Pastry and Filling
  • 1 package puff pastry sheets (about 2 sheets)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced Feel free to substitute with other fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • to taste Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth out any creases and make them a bit thinner.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each sheet into squares—roughly 4x4 inches.
  4. In a bowl, combine diced strawberries, sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix well to create the filling.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Place a generous spoonful of the strawberry mixture in the center of each pastry square. Fold the corners up towards the center to create pockets. Brush the edges with beaten egg.
  2. Arrange the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
  3. Allow the Danishes to cool slightly before dusting them with powdered sugar.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, can be stored for up to three days in an airtight container. Freeze for up to a month; reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven or microwave for a softer texture.
