Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup green tea leaves (cooled) Brewed and cooled to room temperature.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Regular granulated sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted) Should not be too hot.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Filling Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries (sliced) Can substitute with other berries like blueberries or raspberries.
Topping
  • to taste Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Brew your green tea leaves and allow them to cool.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk gently to incorporate.
  3. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, cooled green tea, and lemon juice. Whisk until evenly blended.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  5. Gently fold the sliced strawberries into the dough.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle, approximately 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Starting from one edge, roll the dough up tightly to form a log.
Baking
  1. Slice the rolled dough into equal portions and place them on a greased baking tray.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
  3. Allow them to cool for a few minutes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
