Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 cup milk Warm until lukewarm
  • 1/4 cup sugar Granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast Ensure it is fresh
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Unsalted butter preferred
  • 1 teaspoon salt Regular table salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Add gradually until dough is formed
  • 1 egg egg Large egg, for richness
For the Filling
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced Fresh strawberries, can substitute with other fruits
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar, for sweetness

Method

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, warm the milk until it’s lukewarm. Remove from heat and add sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, salt, and the yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for roughly 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
  1. While the dough rises, slice the strawberries and mix them with cinnamon and brown sugar in a separate bowl.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the dough, leaving an inch around the edges.
  3. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, creating a log shape. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
  4. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly, and enjoy warm, possibly with a drizzle of glaze!

Notes

Feel free to swap strawberries with other fruits like blueberries or raspberries. Ensure the dough has enough time to rise for fluffy rolls. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for about a week; these can also be frozen for up to three months.
