Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and sour cream. Beat until smooth and creamy, then spread evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the sliced strawberries evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- In a separate bowl, combine the cake mix with the melted butter and milk. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Spoon the cake batter over the strawberries, spreading it as evenly as possible.
Baking
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the cake cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Feel free to swap out strawberries for other berries or peaches. Use different flavored cake mixes for a fun twist. Allow the cake to cool before serving to help set the layers. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
