Method
Preparation
- Start by flattening the chicken breasts gently with a meat mallet for even cooking. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
Coating
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, another with a beaten egg, and the last with breadcrumbs. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip it into the egg, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs until well-covered.
Frying
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken breasts. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
Making the Sauce
- While the chicken is cooking, mix the honey and soy sauce in a bowl until combined.
Assembly
- Once the chicken is cooked, drizzle the sticky sauce over the hot pieces and let it soak in for a moment. Toast the burger buns gently on a skillet.
Serving
- On each bun, spread a generous amount of mayonnaise, add a piece of crispy chicken, top with lettuce and tomato slices, and cover with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with extra sticky sauce on the side and your favorite sides like fries or a salad.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze cooked chicken breasts for up to a month. To reheat, place chicken in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes.
