Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp instant yeast Ensure it's fresh for optimal rise.
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Pour in the warm water and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms.
Kneading
  1. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Rising
  1. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it sit for around 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions (about 8 pieces). Shape each piece into a smooth ball.
Second Rise
  1. Cover the shaped buns with a cloth and allow them to rest for another 25 minutes.
Steaming
  1. Prepare a steamer basket lined with parchment paper (to prevent sticking). Place the buns in the steamer, leaving space between them.
  2. Steam for approximately 15–20 minutes.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove the buns and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dips or just as they are!
