Ingredients

For the Steak Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground steak
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Garlic Herb Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary, dried

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground steak, breadcrumbs, the egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix it gently until just combined.
  3. Shape the Meatballs: Using your hands, roll the mixture into meatballs about 1-2 inches in diameter and place them on a lined baking sheet.
Cooking
  1. Bake: Place the meatballs in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until they're browned and cooked through.
  2. Cook the Potatoes: While the meatballs are baking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the halved potatoes and cook until tender, around 15-20 minutes.
  3. Mash the Potatoes: Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Mash until creamy and smooth.
  4. Serve: Once the meatballs are done, serve them on a generous scoop of garlic herb mashed potatoes.

Notes

For substitutions, you can use ground chicken or turkey. Ensure your oven is fully preheated before inserting the meatballs for even cooking. Try adding various herbs or spices for a unique twist.
