Preparation
- Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions and let it cool completely.
- Crumble the cooled cake into a large mixing bowl until fine crumbs form.
- Gradually blend in the frosting until the mixture holds together and is slightly sticky.
- Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into 1-inch balls, placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Refrigerate the cake balls for about 15-30 minutes to firm them up.
Coating
- Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted and smooth.
- Dip the tip of each lollipop stick in melted chocolate, then insert it into the center of each cake ball.
- Dip each cake ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated, and let the excess chocolate drip off.
- Immediately add sprinkles or toppings if desired.
- Place the cake pops upright in a styrofoam piece or cake pop stand to cool until the chocolate hardens completely.
Notes
Store cake pops in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze them wrapped for 1-2 months. Thaw in the fridge before enjoying.
