Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Filling
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
Glaze
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 tablespoons milk for glaze

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan with butter or baking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the sugars and melted butter. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cooling and Glazing
  1. Allow the bread to cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack.
  2. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled bread.
Serving
  1. Once the glaze has set, slice the bread and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. It can also be frozen for up to three months. To reheat, microwave for 20-30 seconds or warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
