Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Let this mixture sit for about 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Stir until smooth. Then mix in the melted butter.
Baking
- Pour the peach mixture evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spoon the batter over the peaches, spreading gently.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For optimal flavor, ensure peaches are ripe and avoid excess opening of the oven during baking.
