Preparation
- Peel and dice your potatoes evenly into about 1-inch cubes to ensure they cook uniformly.
- In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
Cooking
- Carefully add the diced potatoes to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Sprinkle in salt and pepper to taste while the potatoes fry. If using, add the diced onion for extra flavor.
- Fry the potatoes for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- In the last few minutes of cooking, sprinkle garlic powder over the potatoes and let it combine.
- Once cooked, transfer the fried potatoes to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil and serve hot.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For freezing, cool completely and transfer to a freezer-friendly bag for up to 1 month. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for best results.
