  • 4 medium-sized Potatoes, peeled and diced Choose Russet or Yukon Gold for best results.
  • ½ cup Vegetable oil, for frying
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 small Onion, diced (optional) Adds extra flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder (optional) Add in the last few minutes of cooking.

Preparation
  1. Peel and dice your potatoes evenly into about 1-inch cubes to ensure they cook uniformly.
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
Cooking
  1. Carefully add the diced potatoes to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  2. Sprinkle in salt and pepper to taste while the potatoes fry. If using, add the diced onion for extra flavor.
  3. Fry the potatoes for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  4. In the last few minutes of cooking, sprinkle garlic powder over the potatoes and let it combine.
  5. Once cooked, transfer the fried potatoes to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil and serve hot.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For freezing, cool completely and transfer to a freezer-friendly bag for up to 1 month. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for best results.
