Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (16.3 oz)
  • 1 lb ground Chicken or Beef sausage (Halal) Use your preferred protein
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional) For an extra cheesy topping
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground chicken/beef sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle in the flour, stir for a minute or two. Gradually pour in the whole milk while stirring continuously.
  4. Add in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture thickens, roughly 5 minutes.
  5. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, pop the biscuit dough apart into individual pieces and spread them evenly along the bottom of the dish.
  6. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits, ensuring they are coated. If using cheese, sprinkle it on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Let sit for a few minutes, then garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

You can swap out the sausage for any Halal protein sources. Keep an eye on the casserole during baking; cover with foil if biscuits brown too quickly. Whisk the gravy continuously to avoid lumps.
