Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 2 pieces chicken breasts Skinless and boneless
  • 1 cup buttermilk For marinating the chicken
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For coating the chicken
  • 1 tsp paprika Adds flavor and color
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For seasoning the coating
  • 1 tsp onion powder For seasoning the coating
  • Salt and pepper To taste
For Assembly
  • 4 pieces sandwich buns Soft and pillowy
  • Lettuce, tomato, and pickles For topping
  • Barbecue sauce For serving

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, and pepper, and let the chicken breasts soak for about 30 minutes.
  2. While the chicken is marinating, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in another bowl.
Cooking
  1. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.
  2. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat. Add a touch of oil to prevent sticking if necessary.
  3. Place the coated chicken breasts on the grill. Cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side until the chicken is cooked through and has beautiful grill marks.
Assembly and Serving
  1. Toast your sandwich buns lightly on the grill if desired.
  2. Place a grilled chicken breast on each bun, top with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and drizzle with barbecue sauce.
  3. Serve these sandwiches warm with some extra sauce on the side.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For the best quality, keep the grilled chicken and toppings separate until ready to eat. Can freeze marinated chicken or fully assembled sandwiches for up to a month.
