Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened At room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses Honey can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and molasses until well combined and fluffy.
  4. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until a uniform dough forms.
Baking
  1. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten each cookie slightly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes until they are set but still soft. Let cool on a wire rack.
Glazing
  1. For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cookies.

Notes

Ensure your butter is at room temperature for better mixing. Avoid overbaking to maintain a soft texture. Experiment with spices or nuts for a delightful twist.
