Ingredients

For the dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour You can substitute with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Can be substituted with coconut sugar for unique flavor.
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
For the filling
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened (for spreading)
For the icing
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead gently on a floured surface if necessary.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread the softened butter over the rolled dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly.
  7. Starting from the long edge of the rectangle, roll the dough into a tight log and pinch the seam to seal.
  8. Cut the rolled dough into 6 equal pieces and place in a buttered baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Icing
  1. Mix the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth and drizzle over the warm rolls after they have cooled slightly.
