Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes Use Halal-friendly beef if necessary.
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 4 medium carrots, sliced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Ensure it's Halal-friendly.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by dicing your potatoes and slicing the carrots. Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
Cooking
  1. If you want extra flavor, you can brown the beef stew meat in a skillet for a few minutes.
  2. Place the diced potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker, followed by the sliced carrots, chopped onion, and browned or raw beef.
  3. Sprinkle minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper over the ingredients. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine everything.
  4. Set your slow cooker on low and let it cook for about 6-8 hours, or on high for about 4 hours.
Serving
  1. Once it’s cooked to your liking, give it a good stir and taste for salt and pepper. Serve hot with some crusty bread for dipping.

Notes

Feel free to swap out beef for Halal turkey or chicken, but adjust cooking time accordingly. For best flavor, let the stew cook the full 8 hours on low. Store leftovers in an airtight container; refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
