Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and salt, mixing until creamy. If using, add the vanilla extract now.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough-like consistency is achieved.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters or cut into rectangles.
- Place the cut cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before enjoying.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze wrapped cookies for up to three months.
