  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) Use room temperature butter for easier mixing.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) Add for extra flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and salt, mixing until creamy. If using, add the vanilla extract now.
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough-like consistency is achieved.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters or cut into rectangles.
  5. Place the cut cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before enjoying.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze wrapped cookies for up to three months.
