Preparation
- Lightly season the cube steaks with salt and pepper, then coat them in flour.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
Cooking
- Add the coated cube steaks to the skillet and fry them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Once done, remove the steaks and set them aside.
- In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well to combine and scrape up any fond from the bottom of the pan.
- Return the browned cube steaks to the skillet. Cover and let them simmer in the gravy for about 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and tender.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
Don’t skip browning the steak for flavor. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the steak reaches an internal temperature of at least 145°F. Feel free to add fresh herbs for extra flavor.
