Method
Preparation
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until it’s soft and translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for an additional minute.
Cooking the Beef
- Toss the ground beef into the skillet. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until it’s browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to ensure the spices coat the beef evenly and let the mixture simmer for about 3 minutes.
Assembling the Tacos
- Warm the tortillas in a separate pan or microwave until they’re soft and pliable.
- Start with a tortilla, then add a generous scoop of the beef mixture. Top it with your choice of diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced jalapeños, diced avocado, and a squeeze of fresh lime.
- Finish with freshly chopped cilantro and lime wedges on the side.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat beef on the stovetop, and warm tortillas separately. Enjoy your tacos freshly prepared and hot!
