Preparation
  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium pot over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and caramelized.
  3. Stir in the rinsed jasmine rice and toast it slightly with the butter and onions for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the water or vegetable broth and add salt to taste. Stir briefly to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to low.
  6. Cover tightly and let it simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. After 15 minutes, remove the pot from heat. Let it sit for an additional 5 minutes without lifting the lid.
  8. Remove the lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.

Notes

Remember to rinse the rice for fluffy results and to let it simmer undisturbed for best texture. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
