Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for maximum flavor
  • to taste Salt the essentials
  • to taste Pepper the essentials
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced optional, if you like a garlicky punch

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse your asparagus under cool water and snap off the woody ends. Cut them into 2-inch pieces for easy cooking.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the asparagus pieces to the skillet. Toss them to coat well in the oil.
  3. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the asparagus. If you’re using garlic, add it now for a savory kick.
  4. Stir the asparagus occasionally and sauté for about 5 to 7 minutes or until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Check the doneness. The asparagus should be tender enough to pierce with a fork but still have a slight crunch.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy warm, potentially garnished with your favorite toppings.

Notes

If you don’t have olive oil, feel free to replace it with canola oil or a sprinkle of butter. Keep a close eye on your asparagus while sautéing to avoid overcooking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
