- Rinse your asparagus under cool water and snap off the woody ends. Cut them into 2-inch pieces for easy cooking.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, add the asparagus pieces to the skillet. Toss them to coat well in the oil.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the asparagus. If you’re using garlic, add it now for a savory kick.
- Stir the asparagus occasionally and sauté for about 5 to 7 minutes or until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
- Check the doneness. The asparagus should be tender enough to pierce with a fork but still have a slight crunch.
- Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy warm, potentially garnished with your favorite toppings.
Notes
If you don’t have olive oil, feel free to replace it with canola oil or a sprinkle of butter. Keep a close eye on your asparagus while sautéing to avoid overcooking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
