Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer across the baking sheet.
Making the Caramel
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Once melted, add brown sugar, stirring continuously until it reaches a gentle boil.
  3. Allow the mixture to bubble for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
Baking
  1. Pour the caramel mixture over the arranged Saltine crackers and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for about 5 to 7 minutes until the caramel is bubbly and golden, but not burnt.
  3. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot caramel.
  4. Let the chocolate sit for a couple of minutes to melt, then spread it gently with a spatula.
  5. If using, sprinkle optional toppings evenly over the melted chocolate.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the Saltine Cracker Candy to cool at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  2. Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

To maintain texture, store in an airtight container at room temperature. It lasts about a week and can be frozen for up to a month.
