Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 pre-made pie crust 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
For the filling
  • 3/4 cup 3/4 cup honey (preferably local for a touch of unique flavor)
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (ensure it’s halal-compliant)
  • 3 large 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (check for halal certification)
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for sprinkling)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using pre-made pie crust, lay it in a 9-inch pie pan. If making from scratch, roll out your dough and fit it into the pan.
Mixing the Filling
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  2. Add melted butter and whisk well.
  3. Crack in the eggs one by one, mixing until fully incorporated. Stir in vanilla extract and sea salt.
Baking
  1. Pour the honey filling into the prepared crust, filling it just a bit over half full.
  2. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the filling is set and firm but slightly jiggly in the center.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature.
  2. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top before serving.

Notes

To keep leftovers fresh, refrigerate in an airtight container for about 3-4 days. For freezing, wrap tightly and it can last about a month. To reheat, place in a 350°F oven for about 15 minutes.
