Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed Use cold to ensure a flaky texture.
For the filling
  • 2 cups diced apples Granny Smith works great!
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts Optional for topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased 9x9-inch baking pan.
Filling
  1. In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with cinnamon and granulated sugar until well coated.
  2. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  3. Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the apples, ensuring it covers as much of the filling as possible.
Assembly
  1. Take the remaining crust mixture and sprinkle it on top of the apples and caramel layer.
Baking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
Serving
  1. Serve warm or at room temperature, and feel free to drizzle with more salted caramel or top with nuts!

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. These bars freeze beautifully for up to 3 months. Reheat in a preheated oven for the best texture.
